A Jubilee Afternoon Tea | The Shangri-La
There is nothing more English than an Afternoon tea. If you are looking for an English afternoon themed tea this summer for the Jubilee, I might just have found the perfect day out for you.
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee has London all aglow. The Shangri-La located in London’s tallest building at the Shard, is hosting quite the Platinum Afternoon Tea, and with a floral difference.
This Jubilee Afternoon Tea has the best views of London – especially as it over looks the iconic Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
Tower of London | Superbloom
This year Tower of London are hosting Superbloom. An ambitious idea to flood the moat with over 20 million seeds to flower in honour of HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It is going to be a highlight of things to see this summer.
The Shangri-La London have collaborated with The Tower of London, so you can enjoy a really Royal and Regal day out. Have their Platinum Afternoon Tea combined with the Tower of London Superbloom experience.
What’s Royal at The Shangri-La
As you walk into The Shard McQueen’s Flower’s have created iconic frames of the British stamp with the Queen’s profile. Perfect stop for your own selfie, if that ticks your box before you head into a room of Royal photography.
Royal Photography at The Shangri-La
The lobby by the lift has been turned into a gallery by Royal Photographer Hugo Rittson-Thomas. Known for the 3D images, this includes his series of photography taken of the Royal Household, members of the Royal Family including the Queen. I personally have always loved these portraits of Her Majesty and Prince William.
Jubilee Afternoon Tea
Walk out of the lift and images of the British stamp are everywhere – her eyes over looking London. One of the best things you get at the Shangri-La is the view of London. Maximised at every opportunity.
There is a welcome cocktail or mocktail – whatever your choice, I tried both and they burst with fresh fruity flavours.
The nod to Ting is the savoury snack beginnings. A hoisin duck pancake with a spoonful of caviar on top. There is nothing to fault.
All the best bits of the afternoon tea deliver at The Shangri-La, including as dry ice show stopper. Delicious sandwiches, gorgeous little cakes… and of course the english scone.
The show stopper is the Shard sitting on a bed of dry ice. As it falls apart you treated to the most luxurious chocolate & raspberry cake to share. It was incredibly hard to hold back – I didn’t I’m afraid.
We drank afternoon tea by Camellia’s Tea House, and sparkling wine by Nyetimber. It was as English as could be.
Afternoon Tea at The Shangri-La is priced from £65 Vegetarian options available.
