August Super Seven 2024
You would be surprised by the number of messages I get from people saying they are visiting London in August, and what should they book. I do the work for you...
As I write this I’m in the car travelling between Cornwall and Norfolk, having squeezed in a weekend at The Aldeburgh in Suffolk – all of which have been glorious. Lots to write about when I’m back.
This August my Super Seven is about variety. I have tried to fill it out with a mix of things to do from climbing walls or climbing 2.5 tonnes of melting ice to Summer Terraces and Olympic Fan Zones. Let’s hope the weather plays ball to enjoy what’s on.
August Super Seven
1. Apparently we are all seeing how amazing the games are in Paris and wanting to be there, so I’m keeping this up on my Super Seven with encouragement to visit the Team GB Official London Fan Zones. You can find them in King’s Cross, Battersea Power Station, Grosvenor Square in Mayfair and Westfield White City. Covent Garden also have a Pol Roger screen up showing the Olympics daily from 11am.
2. The Climbing Wall at Selfridges. Something different and I like it.
Cost from £12.50 for the most central climbing wall in London. Until 26 August 2024.
3. Regent’s Park Music Festival: The Secret Garden series of concerts all the way through to September might be just the way to spend an perfect evening in London.
4. GDIF : This free outdoor festival is AMAZING. Every year I head over there and always amazed at the sheer talent that is on display. This year I expect nothing less.
Check here for all the performance details. Look out for Yoann Bourgeois on 7 September at Stratford Cross and the ice sculpture over London Docklands.
23 August - 8 September.
5. There are some great photography exhibitions on in London. I’ve made a list of ones you shouldn’t miss. I’m still to see Roger Payne as I write, but it’s firmly at the top of my list when I’m back in London.
6. Taylor Swift Songbook Trail at the V&A : This free exhibition includes 16 installations of Taylor’s costumes charting 13 years of performance around the museum. Not just for ‘Swifties’. Until Sunday 8 September 2024.
7. Festival of Fairytales at Garden Museum: Step into a world of magic, stories and creative play. If you have little ones aged 4-10 step into their enchanted world. 11 August.
Extra
