Harry’s Dolce Vita
Harry’s Dolce Vita opened just before Christmas, and on the high recommendation of a friend, I had to book it. It has long been the site of Cafe Rouge opposite Harrods, but no more. Yes, Harry’s Dolce Vita has moved in, and I’m sure forever more.
The restaurant is more long than it is wide, with a beautiful long bar facing out, with bar stools, lots of dark wood, cool riviera vintage photographs, it is beautifully beautifully stylish. Plenty of tables for 2, with a few tables for 4, and I rather like it this way.
I had two birthday lunches to celebrate, and the first one went down so well, I booked immediately for the second. A mixture of families, suits and shopping stop overs, it’s a happy mix of people, which is funny because on the whole, it is tables for two that is the draw.
Nothing starts a meal better than with a Harry’s Bellini, in stunning Murano glass. Everything feels special without the silly prices. The cocktail list was equally impressive, but with an afternoon to deal with, we stuck with the bellini’s.
I have had small plates, and big plates. The Pizzetta is mouthwatering. The courgetti were too delicious, but not so easy to eat.
The seafood pasta, was so good, but on my second outing I had Harry’s Taglioni. It was hands down the best bowl of pasta I’ve ever eaten. It could have been the grated parmesan on top, that had been crusted to perfection, or it could have just been the perfection of cream & truffle. I went for the smaller bowl thinking I’d be good, but my goodness I could have been so naughty and gone for the bigger portion.
I’ve a sweet tooth, I do not lie, so when it comes to pudding, something has to tick the box. Well, the one you go for is Harry’s Toadstool. Nothing was more complete. It is as delicious as it looks. White chocolate, rasberries, marscapone, pistachio, all make it to be the showstopper it is.
I should be the size of a house, I love my food so much. This is delicious food, and worth every calorie intake – that’s my review. Definitely go, but you may need to walk home. My favourite table for 2 would be in the corner – Table 4.
