Roe London | Canary Wharf
If ever there was a reason to head to Canary Wharf I’ve found it. It’s for the new restaurant opening of Roe London. Roe is the sister restaurant from the incredible team behind Fallow St James’s in the heart of London.
A few weeks ago I couldn’t resist the invitation to go and try it out as I’m a huge fan of Fallow.
Inside Roe London
I was plesantly surprised by the location. It is right on the water of Canary Wharf with a wrap around terrace. When the sun shines London, you will want to be on this terrace – trust me.
From the bougie glass wine room set for two, to the vertical foraging wall of plants to the open kitchen championing zero waste it is gorgeous.
Take a moment to notice these details as you walk in. It is impossible not to be blown away by the open space Roe has taken over. From the striking red coral like art work on the walls, to the purple Tom Dixon lighting. It is stunning – every single bit of it.
What did we eat
Roe has an open kitchen and a bar counter is where you see the theatrics. I love this kind of dining. Plate after plate came to the table as a work of art, and we saw it all coming together.
We began with the sea bream tartare with the perfect tiger’s milk sauce. Deliciously fresh with the apple and radish.
The Cornish scallop flatbread with a bacon butter and parsley sauce. It was a show stopper and one I would re-order. Perfectly balanced.
Octopus, diced sausage and samphire. It shouldn’t work, but my goodness it does. This was the best octopus dish I can remember having. We both said how good it was.
Venison and dairy cow burger with chips. I’ll confess now, I was seriously hung over and craving a burger. I’d suggested sharing, but Mr B wasn’t having any of it. Having finished it without a problem, I’d agree some things are not to be shared!
Blooming onion, pickled onion, garlic mayonnaise. Quite simply a work of art. One would serve 4 people easily. We took what we couldn’t eat home with us.
Pudding was a caramelised banana parfait.. tell me this isn’t a banana… unreal in flavour and unreal in presentation. This is the pudding of my dreams.
Where to find Roe London in Canary Wharf
Nearest tube is Canary Wharf : Located a 2 min walk from the Wood Wharf exit at Canary Wharf station. Walk out and over the bridge and there you will find Roe London on the waterfront. We live in west London and I honestly wouldn’t hesitate in making the journey out there.
A truly 5 star meal that didn’t disappoint. Take me back immediately!
