There is nothing like a beautiful afternoon tea in London. Elevate it with the most talked about tv show and what do you have?
Last week I was invited to the Four Seasons Hotel in London’s Park Lane for their themed White Lotus Afternoon Tea.
I’m a huge fan of Mike White’s tv series, who isn’t, whilst we may all debate which has been the best season, this year we have been transported to Thailand for Season 3.
We can only hope for a White Lotus to be filmed in London, until then the Four Season’s Hotel in Park Lane have created in their Michelin Star Pavyllon Restaurant, a White Lotus themed tea with a hint of Thai flavours.
White Lotus Afternoon Tea | What we ate
The savouries are different to your average afternoon tea. It tasted like Michelin star Thai canapés beautifully presented on leaf imprinted plates.
The warm dish was the chicken dumpling. It had a langoustine extraction with a ginger and coriander jus, not gooey at all, just bursting with Thai favours. The crab and papaya crispy tartlet, a little harder to navigate in one mouthful, but in fact the perfect Thai salad in a crisp tart. As you can probably tell, I love Thai food, and this really did live up to every expectation.
The sandwich was a curried tiger prawn with pickled mango and lime. You may only get one, but when I say it was one of the best sandwich combinations I’ve had, I mean it. It complimented the other asian savouries to perfection.
The sweet part of the afternoon tea is a visual delight. They all arrive on a lotus cake stand, that between the ceramic lotus plants and the green leaves, your cakes perched. If it couldn’t get any better, the stand rotates to pick your sweet treat. It is stunning and the cakes taste just as good.
My favourite was the Heather honey cheesecake with fresh pomelo and grapefruit, but you can’t fault any of it. Each cake, each mouthful, takes you on another journey of taste and flavours of the orient.
Even your English scones take on a Thai theme with a kaya pandan jam (think a nutty vanilla coconut flavour) tasty. I was utterly seduced by the vanilla clotted cream and the strawberry jam. This isn’t the best picture of it, but trust me when I say vanilla clotted cream is a rare thing and it shouldn’t be!
The whole afternoon passed far too quickly - afternoon tea can have that effect, I also wished I was in Thailand with a warm sea to walk into or frankly a massage. If you want to visualise my afternoon tea, you can watch it on my instagram.
White Lotus | Season 3 Finale
If you are a fan of the series, this is the time to binge watch it up to episode 7 as the season finally drops tonight (uk time) with a 90minute episode. I’m intrigued to see how it will end as the theories are flying around.
I love how the characters have developed, but my favourite is Victoria Ratliff; the dry drawl of Parker Posey’s one liners go viral for a reason.
This isn’t a spoiler because if you are a fan of the show you know it always begins with a death.. so I’m praying she isn’t the victim of the gunshot, because goodness knows what will come out of her mouth when it ends.
Watch the season finale of White Lotus on Sky and NOW Monday.

Quite the season finale! No spoilers here, but let me know what you thought about the final show (and the season) in the comments. My wife and I were somewhat torn, so I’m sure opinions are varied.https://mdavis19881.substack.com/p/review-the-white-lotus-season-3
